Saint Rose Students Show Musical Talents

The College of Saint Rose Artist Management class is pleased to announce the bi-
annual Artist Management Showcase on December 8, 2023 at 7:00pm at Studio G3 in the
Hearst CCIM Building on campus. The Showcase will feature three musical acts from the Saint
Rose Music Industry program: Clinton Layne, Veil, and Solar Tyde.
The three artists were chosen by the Artist Management class by an audition at the beginning
of the semester. Through robust deliberation and discussion, the class chose three musical acts
that they felt showed potential as clients. The class was split into teams and each team chose
one of the acts to manage throughout the semester. From there, each team is responsible for
developing their artist in preparation for the showcase at the end of the semester. As their
artist manager, each team works with their artist on branding, creating a press kit, writing a
press release, and providing feedback on their performances, amongst other tasks. This course
gives both the artist manager and the artist practical experience in what an artist-manager
relationship is about.
From indie rock to alternative, along with a dash of folk music, Clinton Layne, Veil, and Solar
Tyde offer a diverse musical experience that will demonstrate all of the hard work and
dedication both parties put in throughout the semester.
Clinton Layne, or known to others as Colin Tubbs, is an acoustic folk singer-songwriter based in
Albany, New York. Even as a beginner songwriter as a freshman at The College of Saint Rose,
Layne connects to feelings that are felt universally, whether that be through direct means or
through the act of storytelling, that many could relate to. Given his raw and impactful audition,
he was chosen as one of three artists for the Fall 2023 Artist Management Showcase. Citing
artists like Elliot Smith and Bob Dylan as inspirations of his, Layne’s mission is for his music to
give people the same feeling as being out in the forest watching the sun set or rise – that
distant yet warm feeling that we are ever present in our lives.
