Men’s Lacrosse

On April 9, Saint Rose Men’s lacrosse hosted NE10 rival Franklin Pierce. A total of eight Golden Knights recorded two or more points to secure the first NE10 conference win. Cam Smith led the team with four goals and six ground balls. Jack Rice, Nate Ham, and Elijah Martin recorded two goals each. Eddie Baker, Greg Walsh, Paul Wright, Alex Johanson, and Eoghan Sweeney each scored one goal. Sweeney and Danny Berutchenko went 25 to 26 in the face-off circle to assist with the Golden Knights win. 

On April 13, The Golden Knights traveled to AIC to compete in another NE10 conference matchup. Elijah Martin recorded a game-high of six points, recording his first hat-trick and three assists. Noah Gibson, Jack Rice, and Cam Smith all followed up Martin with three goals a piece. Walsh, Rice, Smith, Gibson, Johanson, and Walt Ross had one assist apiece, resulting in a 13-10 win against the Yellowjackets. 

Women’s Lacrosse

On April 6, the Women’s lacrosse team hosted Bentley University, Katy McPeak led the team and scored four goals. McPeak also forced three turnovers and six ground balls. Lauren Pendergast recorded two goals and three assists with Daria Bock right behind with one goal, one assist and two forced turnovers. Bentley University defeated the Golden Knights 17-7. 

On April 13, McPeak came out of the gate with three goals along with Kylee Payne and Pendergast delivering one goal each. Bock and Pendergast both recorded one assist. Despite the 13 saves made in the goal by Dorothy Gaffney, Franklin Pierce defeated the Golden Knights. 

Softball

On April 6, The Softball team hosted a double header against Adelphi University in an attempt to continue their five game win streak. Kelsey Higgins had an RBI single in the first game that scored Ellen Fuda. Ciana Phillips and Madison Chandler both recorded hits in the first game. Maddy Bland went two for three while teammate Nayana DeAmelia blasted a solo home run in the second game. The Golden Knights fell to the Panthers in both games. 

The Golden Knights traveled to Pleasantville, NY on April 7, in an attempt to revive their win streak against Pace University. Pace managed to hold the Knights to three hits in game one thanks to Candler, Phillips and Fuda. In game two the Knights fell behind early, Phillips managed a two-run double, Higgins recorded an RBI triple while single runs also were recorded by Bland, Abby Behrikis, Marrisa Correa. Higgins put Saint Rose on the scoreboard in the second game with her seventh homerun which put her at the number one spot on NE10 homerun leaderboard for this season. 

The Golden Knights fell short in both games to Adelphi University. 

Saint Rose hosted another double header against NE10 rival AIC, Chandler went two for two with two doubles and a sacrifice fly to give her a total of four RBI in the first game. Fuda also recorded two hits as well as three steals. Pitcher Adian Sheeran totaled five strikeouts in the first game to secure the win. The second game was a back and forth until Higgins clutched up once again hitting a two run double in the bottom of the seventh. Higgins drove in Katelyn Baker and Phillips to give the Golden Knights a walk off win. The Golden Knights swept the series against AIC. 

On April 14, Saint Rose traveled to Franklin Pierce to play in another double header. Yet again Kelsey Higgins added another home run to her record this season bringing her total to eight home runs. Higgins smashed a three run homer to start the first game. Marin Frazee hit a two run homer in the first inning of the second game. With the bases loaded, Higgins walked, Maddy Bland scored on a fielder’s choice, and Madison Chandler added an RBI single to push Saint Rose’s lead to 8-3. The Golden Knights split the series defeating Franklin Pierce in the second game.

Baseball

On April 6, Men’s baseball began their three game series against New Haven. Louis Gendron, with the third best batting average in the NE10 Conference, went three for five with three RBIs in the first game. Grendon finished the double header with four hits, five RBIs and one run scored. James Ward and Vince Venditti each had multiple hits in both games. Ward went three for five in game one and two for four in the second game. While Venditti went two for five in both games, combined they recorded six runs between both games. Chase Tucker put on a solid show on the mound for seven innings giving up only three runs out of seven hits. New Haven defeated the Golden Knights in both games. To close out the three game series against the Chargers, Ward went four for five, this game is the third game in a row that he has recorded two or more hits. Gendron finished the series going three for five with four runs scored. After the series he had recorded a total of nine RBI in three games. The Golden Knights lost the series to the Chargers in a sweep. On April 9, the Golden Knights traveled to Mercy University, Chase Carroll and Nate Toms had both managed to get on base in all five at bats. Carroll finished the day three for three while getting walked twice. Toms recorded two hits and three walks along with two RBIs. Jaison Mock, Venditti, Jack Griffin and Ethan Farina all recorded one RBI. Saint Rose ultimately fell 11-6. On April 13, Saint Rose split a double header against SNHU. Randall Alejo pitched an impressive seven innings with only four hits and recording nine strikeouts. Even with a homerun from Ward, and a sacrifice fly from Kenyon Motley to push in two runs, SNHU retaliated with 5 runs. Nate Toms went four for four with an RBI and one run scored to get the Golden Knights back in motion. Mike Benedetto recorded two hits, an RBI and a run. Gendron scored twice to help secure the win. Jack Griffin pulled out a double in the sixth inning that brought in two runs for the Golden Knights. The Golden Knights won the second game, 6-5 due to Alejo finishing strong, leaving the game tying SNHU runner stranded on third. 

Track and Field

On April 6, Men’s and Women’s track and field traveled to Utica University.

Overall the Men’s team placed 12th along with the Women’s placing 13th. Record-holder Reese Casinelli made the podium placing third in the men’s 200 meter finishing with a time of 22.29 seconds. Matthew Waruch took seventh place finishing the 800 meter in 2:02.85. Matai Hezel ran an 11.11 second dash in the 100 meter claiming seventh place. Both Jalen George and Dan Miller competed in the discus earning 10th and 15th place. Kennan Wood put himself on the podium placing second in the triple jump along with eighth in the long jump.

For the Women’s team, Zoe Harris took eighth place in the 100 meter dash managing to finish in 12.99 seconds. Harris also placed ninth place in the 200m in 27.74 seconds. Sara Fitzgerald and Gisella King both also placed in the top fifteen. Fitzgerald placed 13th while King placed 11th in the 200 meter dash. Emma Crahan recorded a 10.02 meter shot put along with a 32.93 meter hammer throw leading to seventh and 13th place. The Golden Knights will compete in the Under the Lights Meet on Friday, April 19th at RPI.
