Zwack Indicted for Eight Charges

Alfred Zwack Jr. of Southern Blvd., Albany was indicted by a grand jury for allegedly causing the death of Saint Rose student and Latham native, Etemowei James Oki, Tuesday, Jan. 17 according to district attorney David Soares.

Zwack has been handed eight separate counts, three of which are felonies and include second degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and leaving the scene of an accident without reporting.

He has additionally been charged with reckless driving, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver, failure to keep right, and passing in a no passing zone. The district attorney’s office says they have an original video from a nearby business of the crime.

Zwack fatally hit Oki on the morning of Nov. 26, 2011 at approximately 1:42 a.m. at the intersection of Elk and Quail streets.

Zwack still remains in custody at the Albany County Jail.
