Every year the College of Saint Rose issues a security report. The purpose of the report is intended to inform all students, faculty and staff about the College’s Security and related policies. The reports are put together by specially trained Officers in the College of Saint Rose Department of Safety and Security. The report has to be issued by October 1st in accordance with federal regulations.

The report exists because of the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) of 1998. As the 2010 College of Saint Rose Security Report said, “The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. The act is named in memory of Jeanne Clery, a 19-year-old Lehigh University freshman who was assaulted and murdered in her residence hall room on April 5, 1986.”

The statistics reported in 2010 include reported cases of crime in student housing and just on/around the general campus. In student housing there were 10 reported cases of burglary. There were no reported cases of  arson or aggravated assault.  On the general campus there were five cases of reported burglary. There was one case of arson and aggravated assault.  There was no reported motor vehicle theft in student housing or on/around the general campus.

The 2010 crime statistics have increased since 2009 and 2008. In 2009 there were only eight cases of student housing burglary and in 2008 there were seven. There were no cases of arson in 2009 and 2008. There was one case of student housing burglary in 2009 and none in 2008.

The reported judicial referrals for liquor violations have fluctuated from 2008 to 2010. There was 144 in 2010, 101 in 2009, and 226 in 2008. The reported judicial referrals for drug law violations have also varied between 2008 and 2010. In 2010 there were 23 cases, 15 in 2009, and 17 in 2008.
