Webinar or WebiNO? Still No Answers…

As we all know, the school has been dishing out plan after plan to ensure our futures after our time is done here, which for the first time in forever, is the same for everyone. There are webinars that are emailed to parents and students to join for information on the teach-out plans. From what I know, Jan. 24, was the latest one. Many students believe it wasn’t as helpful as it could’ve been. “I don’t know how long it was, I left early since they were telling me and my mother things we already knew,” said Jadyn Iby, a freshman dependent on these webinars. The point is we as a school (board of directors) need to take more initiative this time around, since it’s the last time, to make the representatives at the schools in agreement to be in a teach out come talk to us in these webinars.

This past weekend, UAlbany representatives came to the campus and had meetings with students and parents. To be honest, UAlbany is a huge benefactor to Saint Rose’s downfall. It is a cheaper school, and is very attractive when it comes to most academics and extracurricular activities. They gain plenty knowing students are desperate and may want to stay in the area, along with their good reputation it’s easy for them to recruit us. What about the other schools? The point of social media and the internet is to connect others from long distances. We need advisors and faculty from the other schools with compact information we can use. We as students already don’t feel taken care of as far as authority goes. We as students want to stay community oriented and that’s what made Saint Rose so special.

It seems as if the board was unaware of everything that has transpired from the information they have given us. If that’s the case, why are we accepting to give these same people attention as if they know the ins and outs of the plan. These are the same authorities who had no apologies and solid answers for their students and staff since they announced the closing. All we want are real answers from people apart from Saint Rose because it’s our future that’s at stake.
