The College of Saint Rose welcomed three new staff members into the Office of Residence Life. The three Area Coordinators are Brian Graham, Summer Naugle, and Mathew Vincent.
Vincent is the only one with Saint Rose experience, having served as a Resident Assistant at the school for two full years from 2012 to 2014.
He received his bachelor’s degree in childhood education, grades one through six, and plans to continue his academic career at the College by entering into the Curriculum Instruction master’s program in spring of 2016.
“I’m most excited to work with the Res Life staff to create and awesome environment for both the RAs and the students,” said Vincent.
He will be serving as the Area Coordinator for Zone 2, which is unique at Saint Rose since the only building inside of the zone is Brubacher Hall, a dorm-style building designated entirely for freshman.
Brubacher Hall is located on State Street, off of O’Leary Boulevard, and is leased by the College from SUNY Albany.
Summer Naugle is the second new AC, and is fresh to the Capitol Region. She received her bachelor’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, and her master’s, in higher education administration, from the College of William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia.
Naugle will oversee Zone 3 on campus, which consists of Lima Hall, a freshman-only dorm-style building, and a handful of upperclassmen houses on Western Avenue and Partridge Street.
Naugle is excited to build relationships with her staff and get to know the student body.
“I’m ready to work hard, have fun, and make campus awesome,” said Naugle.
The final new hire is Brian Graham, who has plenty of experience in the area of Residence Life. Graham was an Resident Director and an assistant coordinator of Orientation at Westfield State University in Michigan.
Having been born and raised in Michigan, Graham is very new to the Albany area, but is pleasantly surprised by what he’s seen so far.
“I’m really impressed with the student body,” said. Graham. “I’m excited to see what this year’s staff is capable of.”
Graham is the area coordinator in Zone 1, which is comprised of Alumni Hall, RCC Transfer housing, which is unusually filled with freshman this year, and various houses on both Madison and Western Avenue.
With all first-year housing at full capacity, and enrollment at an all-time high, the Office of Residence Life is going to have their hands full for the foreseeable future. All three new hires were confident that they and their respective staffs have what it takes to handle whatever is thrown in their direction.
The Office of Residence Life is located at 204 Partridge street and is open most days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
