Deadpool Costume Released to Fans’ Delight

It seems that 20th Century Fox studio is trying out a radical new strategy- giving the fans what they want. On Friday, actor Ryan Reynolds release the first official look at his costume for the 2016 “Deadpool” movie. A more comic book accurate version of the character couldn’t have been created unless Wade Wilson jumped right off the page and onto the screen. They nailed the color, design, and material of the suit so well that some fans were left wondering if it was practical or rendered CGI.
This represents a very different direction for the character’s next on-screen portrayal, especially when compared to his representation in “X-men Origins: Wolverine.” Unlike in said film, the “merc with the mouth” will seemingly not have a mouth sewn shut in his solo film. Furthermore, the relative lack of laser beams shooting from his eyes is a good sign that Deadpool will have his traditional powers.
This film is in some ways a gamble for the studio, especially if the original version of the script is used. “Deadpool” was pitched with a hard R rating, a great deal of violence, and even some self-referential Fox studio bashing. While the rating has not been finalized, the tone of the film is definitely closer to the comics than anything we have seen before.
The photo released depicts Wade Wilson in full Deadpool regalia, posing semi-seductively on a bearskin rug in front of a fireplace. If nothing else, this tells us that the writers will not be taking the movie seriously, in the best way possible.
While known for their gore, the heart of the “Deadpool” comics has never been the absurdly over-the-top violence. The violence is almost always the backdrop for the comedy and general absurdity of the character.
Deadpool knows he’s in a comic book, has multiple personalities, and is seemingly unbeatable. When the character’s well-being isn’t a concern, the story is no longer a life-or-death tale of overcoming struggle. Instead, his powers allow for him to explore the oddities of being an antihero, cracking jokes all the while. This version of the suit is sure to set the tone for a wise-cracking, fun-loving Deadpool, much to the fans’ delight.
