The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) presents the twice annual Scholar All America Award to teams who achieve a team GPA of 3.00 or higher. The College of Saint Rose women’s swimming and diving team received the award for the Fall 2020 semester.

The women’s swimming and diving team is only one of 77 NCAA Division II programs recognized for the award. The team had a collective 3.13 GPA for the past semester while facing the challenges presented by COVID-19. This is not the first time the women’s team has received this award. This past semester is the 24th consecutive time the team was honored with the award from the CSCAA.

Women’s swimming and diving team captain Colleen Quaglia wrote in an email, “I’m very proud of my team for having 24 consecutive seasons on the Academic All America team.” Quaglia emphasized that it was not easy to stay motivated during COVID-19.

“Academics in general are challenging. Online classes make it more of a challenge,” Quaglia wrote. She had witnessed a lot of athletes struggle with adapting to online learning. She said she was grateful for the opportunity to go to classes and continue her education at Saint Rose. She stated that she strives for the goal of making the Scholar All-America Award for the 25 season.
