The College of Saint Rose women’s lacrosse team won in a lopsided 17-4 victory against Saint Michael’s on March 29 at Plumeri Field to earn their first victory in a NE-10 conference game this season.

“I think we just had an overall really good team win,” said coach Sarah Martin. “I think we had a lot of people mixed in, and we didn’t drop the level at all.”

Martin was happy to see how some players took charge.“Leaders emerge at important times, so that was really nice to see,” she said.

Lauren Pendergast led the team in scoring with three goals.

In the first 40 seconds, Kaitlyn Jolly scored the first goal. Eliza Barton, a freshman midfielder for Saint Rose, scored two points and two assists in the win.

Sophomore midfielder Katy McPeak, junior attack Claudia Agostino, junior midfielder Daria Bock, and freshman midfielder Emily Robbie each had two goals apiece. Bock recently surpassed 100 career draw controls in the first game of their season on Feb. 22 against the Dominican Chargers.

Deanna Ciliento, Alex Tapia, Elieen Rattigan, and Kaitlyn Jolly each scored one goal.

“I thought we had great team chemistry, and I feel like our composure we didn’t falter,” said freshman defender Kaelah Carter. “I feel like we had great team movement, and everyone did their job.”

Coach Martin attributes the team’s success to a few factors. “Our overall consistency going from game to game, taking what we learned from the previous game and moving onto the next,” she said.

Saint Rose is now 10th in the NE-10 Conference and has an overall record of 5-4 and a conference record of 1-3.

Martin said the team is gearing up for a big game against third-place Bentley in Waltham, Mass., “Our next game is a really big one,” Martins said. “Practice over the next two days is going to be important.”
