The Student Athletic Advisory Committee met on Oct. 29 in the Athletic Conference Room in the EAC. The student athletes discussed different volunteering opportunities such as the Pasta Drive launched by the Sales Club until Nov. 10. SAAC wanted to make sure teams were donating boxes of pasta to try to help the club reach their goal of 2,500. Some student athletes helped go door to door for the Hygiene Drive to collect items for Equinox and ACAP. The SAAC members also decided to send the money donated from student athletes for another Pajama Drive just like last year.

As part of an initiative from the Northeast 10 Conference office, all member schools are being offered to participate in dynamic and important diversity, equity and inclusion training. RISE is a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations. They work with sports organizations at every level from youth to professional. The SAAC members as well as other selected athletes were able to participate in this training to improve the community at Saint Rose.

The next Hope Happens Here discussion will be Nov. 10 from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Athletic Conference Room. The topic for this meeting is about playing and game time as student athletes. All student athletes are welcomed and encouraged to participate in a safe space for athletes, run by athletes.
