The Saint Rose Golden Knight athletes have been having a lot of golden luck. On Saturday Oct. 7, the women’s soccer team competed away at Saint Anselm with efforts to continue their undefeated season. The #3 nationally ranked Golden Knights took a large lead 4-1 after the first half. NE10 player of the week, Mia Klammer scored three of her four goals within the first 45 minutes of the game. Along with NE10 player of the week, Klammer leads the NE10 in goals and is tied amid all Division ll players with 11 goals this season. Mia Klammer was not the only player to earn NE10 weekly honors; Freshman Sydney Myers was named Rookie of the Week over the last two games, and she has recorded two goals and one assist.

Women’s soccer was not the only successful team on the road. Men’s soccer faced off against American International College in Springfield Massachusetts. In the first half, the Golden Knights were down 2-0 until Jose Clemente received a pass from Nico Faretta to put the first goal on the board for Saint Rose. Hilmar Haldorsson sent a penalty kick to the back of the net to tie up the game 2-2. To wrap up the hard fought win, August Jorius scored his first goal of the season putting the Golden Knights on top.

Volleyball was also on the road this past weekend. The Golden Knights traveled to Adelphi University where they suffered defeat in three sets. Outside hitter Jessica Vargas completed 11-kill, 11-dig double double, with the match against Adelphi being recorded as the fourth straight match where she has completed ten or more kills. Vargas wasn’t the only golden knight to put up impressive numbers. Setter Cadynce Knudson recorded a team high of 15 assists on the day.

The College of Saint Rose women’s golf team competed at The Ranch Golf Club in Southwick, Massachusetts. After Saturday had been a partial wash out due to weather conditions, on Sunday, all six teams that competed had to finish the remainder of the first round and the entirety of the second round. Erika Fuentes was named to the All-Championship team, and the women’s team overall placed 6th.

As we get closer to winter sports seasons, on Oct. 10, The College of Saint Rose has announced that the women’s basketball team will be traveling to Syracuse, New York to take on Syracuse University in a preseason exhibition match on Oct. 31. Head Coach Will Brown spoke about how he wants to challenge his team early on in the season to prepare them for NE10 conference games. Saint Rose has faced off against D1 schools in the past; the most recent was at the start of the 21-22 season against UMass, along with Binghamton University in 2016, UCONN in 2009, and Manhattan in 2008.
