Women’s Soccer

Women’s soccer is still on a roll, remaining undefeated 13-0-1. On Oct. 14, the Golden Knights fought a hard battle against the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. SNHU was leading the match up until the 89 minute mark when junior Olivia Boucher entered the game and received a corner kick from graduate Elina Seppala. Boucher made a connection with the back of the net to tie up the game 2-2. Shortly after the draw against SNHU, junior Mia Klammer had become the ninth player in Saint Rose history to record 100 career goals. Not only was her name added to the list of record holders, Klammer was also named USCA NCAA Division II Player of the Week, and NE10 Player of the Week. As of Oct.13, Klammer has the most goals (11), assists (6) and points (28) in the NE10. In terms of goals and assists, she is tied for sixth and fourteenth place nationally, respectively. With her 28 points overall, she is currently tied for fourth place nationally. 

The women’s soccer team hosted American Int’l College on Oct.18. The Golden Knights came out of the gate ready to take on AIC putting up a total of five goals in the first 45 minutes of the match. Four different Golden Knights finished the match with at least one goal and one assist; Mia Klammer led the team with two goals and one assist. 

On Oct. 21, the Saint Rose Golden Knights gathered to celebrate all 14 seniors during their Senior Day ceremony. Freshman Ashley Kieblesz put the Golden Knights on the board in only the first 16 seconds of the match. The Golden Knights have now outscored their opponents 30-4 in their previous seven games after their four-goal performance. Congratulations to the 14 seniors and good luck on your future endeavors. Men’s Soccer

On Oct. 14, the Men’s soccer team took control of the match against Assumption. The visiting Greyhounds had scored three unanswered goals and led 3-1, but the Golden Knights had rallied back into action. In the final 21 minutes, Graduate Jose Clemente scored the first goal of the day for the Golden Knights, and senior Lucas Malmquist also scored a goal to gain some coverage against Assumption College. In the last 30 seconds of regulation, Senior Hilmar Halldorsson scored the match-tying penalty kick. While Clemente’s string of multi-point performances was extended to three straight games, Halldorsson has now scored two or more points in five consecutive games.

The Golden Knights were back in action at SNHU on Oct. 17. The Penmen used the first 45 minutes of the match to score two goals and continue the momentum into the second half with another two goals. Freshman goalie Leopold Dufaut saved a penalty kick in the first half with another five saves on the day. 

The Golden Knights returned home for their Senior Day Ceremony on Oct 21. The men’s team secured a NE10 conference victory as they defeated Adelphi University 1-0. Graduate Jose Clemete received a pass from senior Hilmar Halldorsson, to score a perfectly placed goal above AU’s goalie’s head. Freshman goalkeeper Leopold Defaut made another six saves to shut out Adelphi’s efforts. Defaut has recorded a total of 12 saves in the last two matches. Saint Rose celebrated the six seniors prior to the game. Congratulations to Hilmar Halldorsson, Victor Boje Henriksen, August Jorius, Lucas Malmquist, Tomas Rozman and Marcello Fazio on their achievements in a Golden Knight uniform. 

Volleyball

On Oct. 14, The Women’s Volleyball team hosted Daemen College. The Golden Knights fell in three sets in a non conference matchup. Sophomore Teresa Moulder and Senior Jessica Vargas both finished with five kills each. Junior Julia Cavalcanti recorded four kills and two blocks in the match. Not only did Vargas have five kills, she also led the team with 14 digs. The visiting Wildcats defeated the Golden Knights 43-19. 

The Golden Knights traveled north to go head to head in an NE10 conference matchup against Saint Anselm. Senior Elizabeth Johnson had a season high eight kills while junior Julia Cavalcanti finished out the four sets with six kills and two blocks. Sophomore Teresa Moulder also showed out with eleven kills and three blocks. Alandra Hasbrouck, a sophomore setter, led all players with 30 assists, while Madelyn Avery, a junior libero, led all players with 23 digs.

The women’s volleyball team continued the NE10 matchups against Saint Michael’s. The Golden Knights refused to fall short of victory, forcing five sets. Sophomore Teresa Moulder recorded a career best 23 kills in five sets. After falling short in the first two matches, the Golden Knights fought back to take the third and fourth set. The Golden Knights had ten or more digs from junior libero Madelyn Avery, sophomore setter Alandra Hasbrouck, sophomore defensive specialist Audrey Logsdon, and junior defensive specialist Katelyn Atchinson. The Golden Knights took the ending in a 15-13 victory.
