The Golden Knights Men’s Basketball team spent their Thanksgiving break overseas, traveling to Puerto Rico to play three games in three days.

Most would call their trip successful, as they came home having maintained their season with no losses, improving to 8-0 over the weekend.

After a rough start in their first game against Sioux Falls, North Dakota, the Golden Knights rolled over their next two opponents, outscoring the second and third matchups by a combined 44 points.

“The Puerto Rico classic proved to be a great test for us, with factors from the climate to the open-roof gym to the drastically different officiating style to the shorter warm ups all acting as things out of our control, yet glaring right in our faces on every possession” said Junior, Julian Lipinski.

With their eigth win on Saturday afternoon, Saint Rose achieved an NCAA-era best start.

During their run, Saint Rose has held all eight of it’s opponents to a field goal percentage of 45 percent or less. On top of this, they have been scoring early and often, with five players averaging between eight and 12 points per game.

“Getting 3 wins over quality opposition was huge for our team morale, and more importantly our belief in each other that we ARE good, and we deserve to be 8-0” said Lipinski.

Their next game is Wednesday night against rival Le Moyne. The Men tip-off at 7:30 p.m. while the Women get the first half of the double header started at 5:30 p.m. in the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium at The College of Saint Rose.
