The Saint Rose Chronicle has proudly served the Saint Rose community since 1936. In its 88-year history, it has undergone many name changes and design shifts, yet it has remained a reliable source of information for the campus community and a platform for student journalists to expand their skills.

The Chronicle ends its journey at Saint Rose alongside the rest of us. While our time may be coming to an end, we take solace in knowing that we have accomplished what we intended to do as a student newspaper. We, as student journalists, wanted nothing more than to create something that would benefit the campus community and encapsulate everything Saint Rose was and what it will continue to be until the end.

As Editor-in-Chief, I owe much of who I am today to The Chronicle. This campus has so much life in it, and it is seen in every single person here. Being able to sit down with those who make this campus go round and learn about them has been one of the greatest privileges I could have as a student journalist. Students, faculty, and staff have been so genuine when talking about the college, whether that be a club leader enthusiastically talking about their plans for the year or Joan Horgan from Spiritual Life discussing a recent tragedy in our community with nothing but pure compassion. Each interaction has left a profound impact on me.

The dedication of The Chronicle staff has been unwavering. We have spent countless hours writing, interviewing, designing, and distributing the paper, all of which, while daunting at times, has allowed us to get to know our Dear Neighbors in such a personal way. Seeing this campus community blossom and stand strong, even during such devastating times, has inspired me more than words can describe.

When I joined the paper four years ago, I never expected to oversee the finale of something I love so deeply and have worked so hard to improve. During the past few years, I have been looking forward to seeing my hard work and dedication live on as new generations of students add their ideas and personalities once my time with the paper is over. To realize that the paper’s journey concludes with me and everyone else on the staff is bittersweet and very emotional as we have poured our hearts into shaping its legacy.

As we reflect on the stories we’ve told, the one thing I hope is solidified by the decades of coverage in The Chronicle is that we created a strong and vibrant campus community. That we were here.

Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives here at the College of Saint Rose. We hope that the spirit of our community will stay with you as we go our separate ways into the world.

With gratitude, Abby Bravo, Editor-in-Chief
