Albany resident Charee Akins-Maddox was killed by domestic partner Damien Zervos, 32, of Guilderland at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 in her Lark Street residence.
It is unclear what events may have led up to the shooting.
Upon arrival to the incident, officers located the female victim inside her residence with gunshot wounds. Akins-Maddox was pronounced deceased at the scene. The weapon supposed to be used has been recovered.
The victim has four children between the ages 5 and 19, who were all home at the time of the incident. The children were physically unharmed.
The defendant is in custody for the homicide at Albany County Jail, after being arrested and charged with murder.
