Golden Knights Rundown 11/29/22

The women’s basketball team competed against Saint Michael’s on Nov. 16. The Golden Knights won in overtime with a score of 69-64. Isabel Sanchez led the game with 15 points alongside Ryley Blasetti who scored 14 points overall. The women played Le Moyne on Nov. 19 and were defeated in a close game with a final score of 70-75. Catherine Finnerty and Isabel Sanchez led the game with 16 points each. The Golden Knights made a comeback in the third quarter. The women’s team beat The University of New Haven on Nov. 22 with a score of 75-62. Junior Isabel Sanchez recorded a game-high of 24 points for the Golden Knights. Following behind, Aniya McDonald-Perry finished the game with 12 points. 

The men’s basketball team faced Georgian Court at home on Nov. 16. The men won with a score of 87-80. Senior forward Juran Ligonde scored a game high of 22 points with Shane O’Dell scoring 16 points to edge Georgian Court. The men competed against Saint Michael’s and were defeated with a score of 70-78. Shane O’Dell and Eric Fleming led the game with 21 and 20 points for the Golden Knights. The men faced The University of New Haven on Nov. 22 and were defeated in overtime with a score of 65-69. The Golden Knights had a great Thanksgiving weekend winning two games back to back. On Nov. 25 the men won against Lake Superior State at an Invitational Game with a score of 59-85. The following day the men defeated D’Youville with a score of 93-68. 

The women’s soccer team competed against Franklin Pierce in the NCAA East Region Final on Nov. 18. The women were tied throughout the game, which led the game to go into overtime. Kaelyn Britt scored the single goal to tie the game. The Golden Knights were defeated in overtime. The women recorded a 19-1-3 season. 

The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the NCAA East Region Championship on Nov. 19. The men placed 19th out of 21 teams. Kyle Ostrander had a top 100 finish coming in to place 89th with a time of 35:23.50 in the 10K. On the women’s side, Brooke Iannone and Elizabeth Mattair finished with times of 25:01.90 and 25:53.70 in the 6K.
