Before the Thanksgiving break, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams traveled to Syracuse for another edition of the Upstate Challenge against their rivals, the Le Moyne Dolphins.

Starting with the women’s team, they looked to bounce back after a loss on Nov. 23 to Adelphi but they were doubled up by Le Moyne, losing 90-45. Despite the loss, senior Leah Dollard matched a career high record of hers with 20 points on the night, she also had six rebounds. Senior Takora McIntyre finished with eight points. The loss drops the team’s record to 3-3 and they’ll be back in action on Wednesday when they return home to take on the Pace Setters, tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

The men’s team looked to fare better than the women’s team, but they also fell at the hands of the Dolphins by a score of 88-70. The game was close heading into the halftime break with Saint Rose leading by one point but Le Moyne pulled away in the second half and the Golden Knights could not catch back up. A key 16-4 run in the second half propelled the Dolphins to victory. Sophomore Sekou Sylla led the Saint Rose offense with 25 points and 11 rebounds to register his sixth double-double on the young season. Junior Adam Anderson had eight points while freshman Jordan Jackson had a season-high eight points of his own. The loss pushes them back below .500 at 3-4 and they will look to bounce back when they host Pace on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.

Looking ahead to later in the week, after the basketball doubleheader on Wednesday night, all eyes will be back on the women’s soccer team as they look to keep their NCAA Championship hopes alive when they host the East Regional Finals on Friday afternoon. They will be taking on the Molloy Lions at Plumeri, the game starts at 1 p.m.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be traveling to Worcester, M.A. on Friday for the three-day Gompei Invitational.
