Golden Knights Rundown 2/28

On Feb. 15, the women’s basketball team competed against Bentley and were defeated with a score of 32-67. Makeala Johnson scored a total of ten points for the Golden Knights. The women won against Pace with a score of 74-63 on Feb. 18. The basketball team competed against LeMoyne on Feb. 22 and finished with a score of 50-79. The women scored another win against American International with a score of 77-63.

The men’s basketball team faced Bentely and were defeated with a score of 48-87 on Feb. 15. Ten of the points were scored by Josh McGettigan. The Golden Knights lost against Pace on Feb. 18 with a score of 60-80. The men faced Adelphi and were defeated in a close game with a final score of 75-82 on Feb. 22. 

The men and women’s indoor track and field team competed at the NE10 Conference Championship on Feb. 16-17. Reese Casinelli broke the school record from 2012 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.48 seconds. Matthew Waruch took 11th in the 800 meter along with Kyle Ostrander and Robert Deck placing 11th and 13th in the 3000 meter run. On the women’s side, Adrianna Cieslak placed seventh in the pole vault and Sara Fitzgerald finished 10th in the 800 meter with Brooke Iannone finishing 12th in the 3000 meter. 

The baseball team competed for the first time this season on Feb. 19 in a doubleheader against East Stroudsburg. The team lost with final scores of 1-18 and 2-3. The Golden Knights competed in another doubleheader with final scores of 3-4 and 4-5. The baseball team won against Bloomfield with a score of 10-8 on Feb. 24. Vince Venditti had three runs during the game to cap a 2-for-5 day. 

The women’s lacrosse team competed against Dominican on Feb. 22 at the first game of the season. The women won with a score of 21-18 led by Lauren Pendergast scoring six goals during the game. 

The men’s lacrosse team competed on Feb. 22 in a close game against Frostburg State. The men were defeated with a final score of 10-11. Cam Smith scored five of the goals during the game.
