Golden Knights Rundown

The men’s basketball team competed in their first game of the season on Oct. 25, 2021 against Siena at the Times Union Center. Adam Anderson, a senior on the men’s team, led the Golden Knights with 16 points during the game. The Golden Knights were ultimately defeated with a score of 70-77.

The men’s soccer team faced Saint Michael’s on Wednesday Oct. 27 in Colchester, Vt. The men’s team won with a final score of 2-1. The Golden Knights won with the help of Sophomore Josh Elliott scoring the winning goal assisted by Daniel Zholendz. The men’s soccer team traveled to American International in Springfield, Mass. on Oct. 30. The Golden Knights were victorious with a score of 2-1. The men’s team defeated Adelphi on Nov. 3 with a final score of 3-2. The men’s team competed on Nov. 6 against Le Moyne in the 2021 NE10 Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament. The Golden Knights won 3-2 in overtime and will compete again in the semifinals.

The women’s soccer team competed against Adelphi at home on Oct. 27. The women tied after overtime with a score of 0-0. Ciera Lundy and Janina Mueller both took two shots during the game. The women hosted a game against Southern Connecticut State University on Oct. 30. The women celebrated their nine seniors during their game. The Golden Knights were defeated with a score of 0-1. The women faced the University of New Haven and were victorious with a score of 7-0 on Nov. 3.

The women’s volleyball team played against Franklin Pierce on Oct. 29. The home game was led by Julia Cavalcanti and Cassidy Smith with 13 kills during the game. The Golden Knights were defeated 2-3. The women had another home game on Oct. 30 against Southern New Hampshire. The women were defeated with a final score of 1-3. The women’s team traveled and competed against Saint Anselm on Nov. 5. The women were defeated with a score of 0-3.

The women’s basketball team competed in their first game against The University of Massachusetts on Nov. 1. The women played a strong game against the Division I University, but ultimately lost with a score of 54-95. Isabel Sanchez led the Golden Knights with 16 points during the game.

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams travelled and competed against Bentley University on Nov. 6. Both teams were defeated, but many swimmers had great individual times. The women lost 84-135 and the men lost 53-143. Colleen Quaglia set the meet record in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:47. James Henriques touched first in his 50 freestyle with a 22.14.

The men’s and women’s cross country team competed in their last meet on Nov. 6. They travelled to Rochester to the NCAA East Region Championship. The men’s team placed 20th while the women placed 18th out of all the teams competing. Top finishes included Elizabeth Mattair placing 114th with a 26:39.5 and Brooke Iannone with 26:58.2 coming in 120th in the 6K. Matt Waruch led the Golden Knights finishing his 10K in 86th place.
