Saint Rose clubs continue to show campus spirit

Although many elements of Saint Rose are undetermined amidst its closure, clubs and extracurriculars remain fairly consistent and are running as they typically would for the final spring semester.

There hasn’t been a pause in club activity for the spring semester as clubs are currently hosting meetings, programs, and numerous events that the Saint Rose community can attend and participate in on campus.

There has been a slight decrease in the number of clubs at the college this semester, but not exactly for the reasons that may be expected. The lower number of total students due to those who transferred last semester was not a factor in this small decline.

“The number of clubs fluctuates from semester to semester with students graduating, stepping down from positions, etc,” said Theresa Belfance, Coordinator of Student Engagement and Campus Activities. “There has been a shift in number of clubs this semester as some students are taking more credits in order to complete their degrees. However, students can still choose from a variety of active clubs to participate in or attend their events.”

“I think that students are very focused on their academics this semester,” said Belfance. “While the goal of graduation or completing as many credits as our students can is at the forefront of their minds, our club leaders have remained intentional with their groups to have a very impactful and engaged semester with the Saint Rose community.”

Students should know that there are a number of upcoming programs for students to participate in. There will be some events throughout February for Black History Month. This week the Student Association will be restarting their general meetings for the semester. Everyone is welcome to attend, the meetings are held every Wednesday starting at 4:30 P.M. in MidKnight Eats.

“There will also be events ranging from bingo, plant potting, and  creating your own self-care packages to meet our students where they are this semester,” said Belfance.

There are still a variety of clubs available to join on campus. Joining a club or participating in club activities for the final spring semester could be a great way to enjoy the remaining months at Saint Rose.
