Other ways to use the Counseling Center

Often, people believe that counseling specifically means talking with a therapist in an office one-on-one, yet that isn’t always the case! Along with individual counseling, and sometimes even in lieu of it, group therapy has been known to be extremely beneficial.

Here are some reasons why group therapy is helpful:

Group therapy can help you recognize that you are not alone!

It promotes receiving and giving support to others, which builds your self-esteem. Group therapy can help you make connections with others who are many times having similar experiences and thoughts as you!

Group therapy can help you become more aware of your own feelings and needs.

It can help you find your own voice and allow you to find healthier ways to relate to yourself and others.

Group therapy is a place where you can find safety in practicing to express your feelings and emotions to the people in your life!

Each semester the Counseling Center offers a variety of groups. We also have a presence in various offices on campus. This semester you can find our clinician, Alexandra, in Wellworth Hall every Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Our student groups are typically pretty small, so if you are interested in attending any of these groups, please stop by!
