Golden Knights Rundown

The women’s volleyball team played their first game on April 6. They lost to American International with a score of 0-3. The Golden Knights traveled to Lakewood, N.J. for a game against Georgian Court. The women fell 0-3, but Karleigh Fripp, a freshman on the team totaled seven kills and sophomore Valeria Jorge had nine assists throughout the game.

The men’s lacrosse team played against American International on March 31 at 3:30 p.m. in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Golden Knights won with a score of 18-9. April 3, the team fell to Adelphi with a score of 10-15. On April 7, the men’s team faced Le Moyne, a top ranking team in the NE-10 Conference, and were defeated with a score of 1-22. Senior John Loughlin scored the lone point for the team. The men’s game against Adelphi was postponed on April 10.

The women’s lacrosse team traveled to West Haven, Connecticut to face the University of New Haven. The women were defeated with a final score of 9-21. Deanna Ciliento scored 5 goals during the game, while the other four goals were scored by freshman Daria Bock. The golden knights faced Adelphi at home and fell with a score of 3-18. The women faced Pace on April 10. The Golden Knights lost with a final score of 4-18.

The Golden knights baseball and softball teams were scheduled to face Pace in a doubleheader on April 2, but the games were postponed till April 3. Both teams were defeated by Pace. Some highlights for the softball team were McKenna Ryan and Madison Chandler sophomores on the team were crucial in scoring runs. On the baseball team, junior Jack McDonald finished 4-for-8 with three RBI. The Golden knights faced Pace again on April 5. The softball team fell to Pace again. The baseball team made a comeback and won both games.

The women’s softball team faced Le Moyne on April 9 and were defeated both games, with scores of 1-7 and 0-3. The softball team faced Le Moyne again on April 10 and fell with a close score of 5-6. Their second game they won against Le Moyne with a score of 2-1. On April 10, the baseball team had a doubleheader against Le Moyne and fell at both games with final scores of 4-8 and 7-18.

The women’s and men’s track and field teams competed for the first time on April 7 at Saint Peter’s Invitation Meet. The women’s team placed fifth out of eight teams and the men’s team placed eighth out of eight teams.

The Saint Rose men’s soccer team defeated Bryant & Stratton on March 31 with a score of 2-0. The men’s game against Mercy was canceled on April 7. On April 10, the Golden Knights faced Clarkson and won with a final score of 3-1. Highlights from the game included Ryan Henning, a junior keeper, recorded a pair of saves. One of those saves Henning dove to his right to prevent a 12-yard shot from Clarkson.

Divah Johnson and Faith Borkowski from the women’s track and field team competed on April 7 at Saint Peter’s Invitational Meet. Johnson placed sixth in the 1500m run
with a time of 6:01.49 and Borkowski placed seventh finishing with a time of 6:01.83./ Divah Johnson
