The baseball team was scheduled to make up a game with the Southern Connecticut State Owls last Monday but the weather once again did not cooperate and the game will be made up on May 1.

On Wednesday, the team returned home to take on the Le Moyne Dolphins in the Upstate Challenge but the Golden Knights fell 11-8. The Dolphins flew out of the gates, already up 8-0 after the top of the third. Saint Rose tried to claw their way back into contention but could not make up the difference. Freshman Jack McDonald finished 4/5 on the day with four RBIs while senior Nicolas Teitter went 3/5.

The Golden Knights are at 10-22 and will be back home on Tuesday to take on the American International Yellow Jackets.

The softball team headed into the homestretch of their season last week. Monday the team was on the road to take on the Pace Setters and the Golden Knights snapped the Setters’ nine game winning streak by upending them, 9-4. Junior Shannon Moore went a perfect 3/3 from the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. Also chipping into the offense was sophomore Ryane Brush who hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning.

On Wednesday the team traveled out to Syracuse to take on Le Moyne but lost 4-2. Senior Astasia Myler went 4/4 in the box with one run scored to lead the Saint Rose attack. The Golden Knights had a chance to put up a crooked number right out of the gates in the first to put early pressure on the Dolphins by loading the bases with no outs but the Dolphin pitching staff bunkered down and got out of it without giving up a single run.

Saturday afternoon the team returned home for their Senior Day doubleheader against Southern Connecticut State which they split, losing 12-7 and winning 9-4. After dropping game one, the Golden Knights jumped out of the gates and pounced early. Senior Erin Maloney had a three RBI double to get the offense going in the first inning. Before today’s game the team recognized their five seniors: Maloney, Myler, Briana Bowen, Beth Jones, and Samantha LaBarbera.

The men’s lacrosse team wrapped up their 2019 campaign last Tuesday in Manchester, New Hampshire where they took on the Saint Anselm Hawks but they could not get the W, losing 19-11. Despite the loss, history was made as senior Carter Badour’s four goal performance vaulted him into the school history books becoming the all time leading scorer in Saint Rose history passing 2018 graduate Matt Graham. Freshman Drew Carpino had a career high four goals in the loss. They finish the year with a 5-9 record.

Finally in women’s track and field, the team had its final event before next weekend’s season finale, the NE-10 Championships. The team competed last Saturday in the Capital District Classic at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Three members of the team recorded wins. On the track, junior Shannen Kerin won the 1,500 meters crossing the line in 4:43.76. In the field, junior Valerie Hinds continued her strong season with a win in the hammer throw with a distance of 48.74 meters. Her teammate, senior Cara Kelly, took the W in the pole vault with a distance of 3.1 meters.
