Student Association Recap 4/29

The Student Association held their general meeting virtually over Zoom on April 29. Alan Martell, assistant director of counseling and psychological services, was the special order for last week’s meeting. Martell informed students that the Counseling Center will remain open and offer their services throughout the rest of the semester. There might be some “wiggle room” after finals week is over for new patients who are in crisis or students who have previously used their students throughout the semester. As the Counseling Center is not open for summer classes, staff there are willing to help people, both local students and students outside of the area, to find providers that work with the students’ needs.

In the case that the fall 2020 semester is to be done remotely as the second half of this semester is, there are no plans yet on how the Counseling Center will continue their services as they have not been discussed yet.  The goal of Mark Parisi, director of the Counseling and Health Center, is to make sure that the students’ needs are being met in whatever way that may be, as they are a priority.

While the May and June STAR Day dates are not going to be held in person this year, the Counseling Center will be open for STAR Days.

Despite students not being on campus for this finals week, the Counseling Center still held their semi-annual Stress Free Week virtually from April 27 through May 1. The Counseling Center partnered with The Academic Success Center, the Neil Hellman Library, and Office of Spiritual Life for some of these Zoom based activities, along with three therapy dog sessions throughout the week.

Any questions in regards to the Counseling Center can be directed to Alan Martell at martella@strose.edu.

Like last week, this week’s Project Positivity is centered towards the class of 2020. This week’s theme is DIY senior photos.
