The Student Association held their general meeting virtually over Zoom on April 22. Joan Horgan, director of spiritual life, was the special order for this week’s meeting.

Horgan spoke about the Office of Spiritual Life, which has teamed up with communications professor Mark Congdon and a few of his classes to host Heritage and Social Justice Month. This two-week long series of events started on April 21 and will continue until April 30. As the series had to be moved entirely online, some events have centered their focus on how communities are responding to COVID-19. On April 22, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, they centered the events around environmental justice. Other events held were centered around privilege and gender justice, as well as democracy involvement.

As the end of the semester is approaching, Horgan announced a senior mass on May 3 for those graduating. She is also looking for people to be on the planning committee for Reach Out Saint Rose 2020.

For more info about any of these, visit the Saint Rose Office of Spiritual Life Facebook page or contact Horgan at horganj@strose.edu.

New members have been elected to the 2020-2021 Student Association board. Jaysalee Salcedo holds the position for communications director and Natalie Davis for director of special interest groups. As the rest of the positions of President, Comptroller, Director of Social Activities, and Director of Social Interests have not been filled, Salcedo will also serve as the interim president and will assist Cherèva McClellan, director of student life, in the hiring process in the fall 2020 semester. If anyone is interested in any of these positions, contact McClellan at mcclellc@strose.edu.
