The Students Events Board is offering a series of events to help students get into the Halloween spirit, including a trip to the Liberty Ridge Farm, pumpkin painting, and a Halloween-themed lip sync battle night.

The trip to Nightmares at Liberty Ridge Farm is a chance to check out seven haunted attractions. The newest of the seven is a 170 foot deep mine shaft that visitors can explore, with each layer of the shaft offering an even scarier environment.

Other attractions include the Farmer’s Haunted House, 3D McCobb Manor - in which you wear 3D glasses to make the scary sights feel more real, the Field of Screams, the Forest of Fear, the Trolley of Terror, and a Psychic SideShow with stunts and carnival cons.

The trip is sponsored by both the SEB and the Late Knight Committee. The idea for the trip came from Zackary Petker, the chair of the trips committee of the SEB.

“I was thinking of event that people would want to do for Halloween and immediately thought: Haunted attractions, which lead me to Nightmares at Liberty Ridge Farm,” said Petker.

Students who go on the trip will also be able to enjoy a campfire at the farm along with cider donuts.

“It will be event full of laughs and scares,” said Petker.

The students who signed up for the event will leave for the farm at 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 15 after meeting with members of outside of Saint Joseph’s Hall.

Sign ups for the trip will become available online starting at 10 a.m. on Oct. 5. A ticket for the trip is $5, and payments will be taken at the SEB office on Oct. 11 and 12 during office hours.

After the trip to Liberty Ridge Farm there is more Halloween fun in store through the Student Events Board with a pumpkin painting event.

Students can partake in a free opportunity to paint a pumpkin and enjoy seasonal drinks and sweet treats on Oct. 27 in Standish A&B.

At the pumpkin painting event there will also be raffle tickets available for students to purchase in a chance to win a variety of prizes. All proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go towards the Student Events Board Relay for Life Team.

The last event that the SEB is offering to celebrate Halloween is a lip synch music battle starting at 8 p.m. on Oct. 25.

The event is sponsored by both the SEB and Outside the Box, a club committed to promoting positivity and community on campus. Sign ups for the event will be posted outside of Camelot the day before, and also at the door on the day of the event.

Along with facilitating the lip sync battles and providing refreshments, the clubs are encouraging students to come dressed in costume because there will be contests and prizes.

For students who are interested in helping with the Student Events Board to plan future events, meetings are held at 8 p.m. on Mondays in Midnight Eats.
