Guitarist John Scofield will perform with The John Scofield Überjam Band, featuring Andy Hess, Avi Bortnick and Tony Mason at 7:30 p.m on Sunday, Sept. 15 the to the Kathleen McManus Picotte Recital Hall in the Massry Center for the Arts.
Scofield has explored a wide spectrum of musical styles with rare authority over the last four decades of his career. Scofield is an experienced jazz improviser whose music falls within the genres post-bop, funk-edged jazz and R & B. After leading and writing for bands in the ’80s and recording and performing with Medeski Martin & Wood in the ’90s, Scofield started the Überjam project in 2000, and has been pursuing the endeavor ever since.
