Hot off the heels of the Relay for Life event the night before, the campus green was once again swarmed with students. Rose Rock '08 brought hundreds of students to the lawn to have more fun playing games on the quad and hear great music from student bands, local bands and of course, headliner Eve 6.

Set up for the event included a lot of work like resurrecting the bouncy-bounce castles from Relay for Life, which only ended very early that morning. Members of the Student Association were working hard early in the morning for the afternoon event.

The first band to play was Kristy's Corner Store, coming up all the way from Long Island, New York. The band is made up of: lead singer and guitarist Nick D'Alessandro, lead guitarist Jared Tuttle, bass guitarist Sammy Proopa, drummer Scott Gulden, and keyboardist Will Tolentino. The band played one of their signature songs 'I'm Tellin' You Now' and 'Sam's Song.' In their performance one could see some of their ska influences, especially when playing a cover of Sublime's 'Doin' Time.'

"They're something that I'd listen to, and if I had to describe them, they're a mixture of 311 and Sublime," said junior Holly Martin.

"I'd say the have a good sound, I think they're great musicians and I enjoy their songs," said sophomore Colin Cusack.

The next band up was The Peeps, which is evidence of the wide range of genres at the festival, with a band playing for nearly everyone.

The Peeps hail from the town of Newburgh, as their fan-favorite song 'Wasted in the Woods' suggests. The song was off their previously released CD, No Chochas, Just Warriors, however the band played mostly new songs for their set. Compared to their previous sound the band has kept true their punk rock roots with inspiration from the Clash, while introducing more nuanced instrumentation at the same time. New songs by them include 'Nocturnal' and 'So You Wanna Know Who' which attracted local fans including friends of the band, and some new fans.

"It's music I like to listen to. They remind me of the Clash, one of my favorite bands," said freshman Reanna Fisher.
