Battle for Democratic nomination more like a game

Issue date: 3/19/08 Section: Opinion
The never ending war for the Democratic nomination has become a battle in the Thunderdome. Recently, Clinton has tried to convince voters that Obama is not ready to be President, but he is ready to be vice president.
The reality: she's in second place. Unless she knows something we don't, like what's going to happen with the Michigan and Florida primaries. If you were late for curfew when you were in middle school, how forgiving would your parents be? Rules are rules Florida and Michigan.
In this ever intensifying election, everyone has an opinion as to who's ready, who's not, and all that's in between.
Especially Saturday Night Live.
After the second to last debate, Clinton said the media was tougher on her, because she's a woman. Memory tells me that a certain other woman was vilified by the media, but since the circumstances were different, it wasn't condemned.
The first skit back from hiatus was hilarious. In the mock debate, Senator Obama, played by Fred Armisen, got all the easy questions, and was asked if wanted a pillow. The big bad media asked Senator Clinton all of the hard hitting questions, to which one reporter replied, "We're all in the bag for Obama."
Seizing this opportunity, not only did Clinton bring up the SNL skit at an actual debate, she then appeared on SNL the following weekend, to bless Amy Poehler's portrayal of her, laugh and all. Political satire is a necessary part of life, but SNL has now done everything short of holding a Clinton telethon, which is probably in the works. Senator Clinton is a phenomenal candidate for president, that's a fact.
However, to portray Obama as a bumbling, temperamental, incompetent rookie is taking it overboard. However, continued supports for SNL, the Digital Shorts are always enjoyable.
It feels like that period of time in 2000 when didn't know who won. Democrats are in limbo, waiting for the chips to fall one way or the other.
With all of the Rezko talk Clinton's camp brings up, Obama's never responded by bringing up any of the Clinton scandals. It's as if there's a gag order on the Obama camp from mentioning even one shady Clinton happening. One camp can rehash all of the other's questionable issues, but the other camp can't even say Whitewater.
