How about getting out there to support the local arts for free? 1st Friday, a monthly event to promotes local art, is open to anyone that is interested to view pieces by local artists at various locations. And it is all within a few miles of The College of Saint Rose's campus.

Awareness event 'Do It in the Dark' attracted large turnout

Even in the dark it was easy to see the event was a success. Electricity-free music set the stage for the Environmental Club's Late Knight 'Do It in the Dark', where participants played games clad in glowing bracelets and necklaces. On Feb. 21, volunteers provided the framework for a positive night with local acoustic musicians sharing their talents.

The College of Saint Rose will be host to a women's studies conference next month. The second annual Women's Studies Regional Conference will be held on March 15, 2008 in Saint Joseph's auditorium. Writers, scholars, and activists from all over the world will gather to address conflicts and challenges women face worldwide.

Every fall, while incoming freshman are busy getting textbooks, moving into campus housing, and getting ready to make new friends, they are also deciding what checking account they are going to use during their years at The College of Saint Rose. With a variety of banks to choose from, and with over 3,000 students at Saint Rose, banks understand that they have to be competitive to draw in college students looking for banks.

Jonathan Kozol will come to The College of Saint Rose on March 13, 2008. At 7:30 p.m. in the Daniel P. Nolan Gymnasium, the renown non-fiction author, teacher and activist will begin his new lecture series entitled "Witnessing for Children: Ethics and Aesthetics in our Public Schools in the Era of No Child Left Behind.

If the students have any questions, Ann Wilkening, the Director of International Studies will be there to answer them.

Students and faculty invited to 'charette'

All day today The College of Saint Rose is hosting a 'charrette' until 8:00 pm this evening in the Commuter Lounge. The college is co-hosting with Saratoga Associates, a higher education planning firm. Students and faculty members are invited to voice their opinions in order to better shape the campus environment to suit the campus community's needs.
