The Student Association is offering The College of Saint Rose students the chance to leave their mark on the campus, literally, and earn a $50 cash prize. SA leaders announced logo contests for a new, official Student Association logo, as well as the much-anticipated Rose Rock 2008.

The appeal for a new SA logo comes after an agreement by association members that the current one is outdated, while the Rose Rock logo changes yearly, to reflect the year's theme. This year it's Rose Rock: Tailgate 2008.

"We want something that better reflects the environment of SA- fun, motivated, and student-run," said, Schuyler Bull, SA President. He said the current logo has been around for about five years. It is used on all SA promotions including letterheads and event advertisements.

Asking the student body to contribute logo designs for SA has become a tradition on campus, something the college's public relations department supports.

"Our mission is to represent, express, and execute the sentiment of the students of the college. By opening up the logo contest to the students, we are allowing their creative spirit to show through", Bull said.

The SA logo is due in the association's office located in the Events and Athletics Center, next to the pool, by Tuesday, February 26. Designers have until Tuesday, March 11 to submit logos for the Rose Rock contest; they are also due in the SA office. For more information, contact Matthew Scherr, Vice President for Social Activities, at scherrm704@mail.strose.edu or Schuyler Bull, Student Association president at bulls261@strose.edu. The logos must include the words "Student Association" and "Rose Rock: 2008 Tailgate", respectively.
