President Sullivan marked the new semester on President's Day, by facilitating an extended discussion about the college's role in promoting sustainability of the environment. Joined by faculty and administration as well as some students and special guests, Sullivan described the heightened interest in the "greening" of Saint Rose throughout multiple facets of the institution and its campus.
Tuesday evening started one of the greatest events associated with The College of St. Rose Community. The Relay For Life kick-off included food, an open microphone, merchandise for supporters to sport during the actual Relay For Life, which will take place April 25th, and a mock luminary ceremony to get everyone in the community excited and reminded of what's to come.
Complaints about school bookstores are not uncommon and the College of Saint Rose's Bookstore in not all that different. The common complaints are not with major problems but a general dissatisfaction giving some students enough reason to look for books elsewhere.
The Environmental Club hopes to add green to Saint Rose's white and gold with its two upcoming environmental awareness events. On Thursday, January 31, The College of Saint Rose, along with other colleges across the nation, will participate in Focus the Nation's all day teach-in.
Spring semester 2008 is finally here, which means that most students will be looking forward to the days getting longer and warmer as summer approaches. For many seniors, however, it is during these days that their future careers are being shaped through student teaching and internships.
Thirteen students from the College of Saint Rose took a trip down to Washington D.C. over winter break in order to work with organizations dedicated to curbing the long-standing problems with poverty and homelessness in our nation's capital. The trip was organized by Joan Horgan of Campus Ministry.
