Senior guard Steve Dagostino poured in a game-high 24 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor to guide The College of Saint Rose past Southern New Hampshire, 71-61, in a Northeast-10 Conference game last Wednesday at the SNHU Fieldhouse.?

Dagostino, who connected on 4-of-6 shots from beyond the arc and 8-of-9 attempts from the foul line, also moved into ninth place in school history in assists (407) and steals (177). He handed out four assists in the contest and swiped two balls to move past head coach Brian Beaury on the all-time steals list.?? Sophomore guard Jermaine Clark gave the Golden Knights 16 points in 28 minutes off the bench, while senior guard Will Monica reached double-figures for the second straight game with 14 points to go with six boards, four assists and three steals.?

The Penmen (2-2/1-2 NE-10) received 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists from junior guard Gerald Carter. Junior guard Troy Bowen added 11 points, while senior center Sam Carey contributed 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

?Southern New Hampshire raced out to a 15-3 lead just over five minutes in after junior guard Chris Brickley opened the contest with a deep ball and Bowen converted a conventional three-point play, a jumper and drained a three to cap off the initial spurt. Clark promptly responded with consecutive 3-pointers, followed by a jumper and a trey by Monica to pull the Golden Knights to within one, 15-14, with 9:55 remaining in the half.??

Neither squad led by more than three points for the next five minutes until Monica set up Clark to put Saint Rose on top, 22-21, a lead it would not relinquish. The Golden Knights then went on a 37-17 run that bridged the two halves, which afforded Saint Rose a commanding 58-38 edge with 10 minutes left in regulation. Dagostino and Clark drained consecutive 3-pointers to cap off the offensive onslaught.?

The Golden Knights knocked down 52.6 percent (10-of-19) of their attempts from beyond the arc, including 6-of-10 in the opening frame to account for a 34-25 halftime edge. Conversely, the Penmen hit only 23.5 percent (4-for-17) of their shots from 3-point territory, but managed to control the paint by a 34-16 margin.?

Saint Rose is scheduled to wrap up a three game road trip on Tuesday when it visits NE-10 foe Pace in a 7:30 pm tip-off. Meanwhile, Southern New Hampshire will head to Pace on Saturday for a 3:30 pm league contest.
