There'll also be opportunities for people to relax. The library is considering making a jigsaw puzzle available to students where they can come to work on it while their stressed.

Ingersoll's co-workers are excited by many of these suggestions.

"All of the changes going on at the Hellman are great," said Laurol Gregware, a senior at Saint Rose who began working at the circulation desk this year. "I see what goes on everyday and I think Gretchen and the rest of the Hellman staff are doing an amazing job. In my opinion, I think the Saint Rose community really enjoyed coming into the library this semester."

"I think with Gretchen being so new and so wanting to make a change, it has kind of sparked the rest of us to do more," said Katherine Moss, Reference and Access Services Librarian.

Moss is pleased with the changes and agreed that the library should be more inviting and approachable. She believes these are the ideas that will do just that. Moss joined the library full time nine years ago after having her son and has wanted to take some of these steps for a while. She said that Ingersoll has connected with students and she's glad to see the changes happening.

Moss has also been working on some plans. She's been reaching out to faculty and staff in hopes of connecting to first year students with a book of the semester; this fall the book was "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer.

This winter the library is considering introducing Truman Capote's "A Christmas Memory." During October Ingersoll and Moss worked on Halloween at the Hellman and attempted a book and movie combination with "Dracula." Around 50 people attended Halloween at the Hellman, almost half participated in the costume contest.

"It was a success in the fact that it made the library a place for students to go to," Moss said.

Being a library, the Hellman has been improving it's stock as another way to entice students through the doors. Right now they have a bestseller collection on the second floor; Ingersoll has created an intricate marketing plan to make it known around campus.
