The College of Saint Rose club Circle K is planning to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Circle K is based on community service and volunteer efforts. The event, Up 'til Dawn, is taking place on Nov. 30.

Up 'til Dawn is a student-led, student-run fund-raising program hosted by colleges and universities nationwide. This event unites students, faculty, and the surrounding community and sponsors as they strive to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

In order to participate a person can sign up individually or with a team. To encourage people to get involved the board members plan on sending flyers, emails, and even Facebook messages to students, faculty, RA's, and sports teams, and clubs on campus. They are working hard to involve the community and local businesses in the area.

Within the club is an executive board in charge of planning for the event. Junior Meghan Kane is the executive director for the event.

"The actual event is for every single Saint Rose community member," said Kane.

Up 'til Dawn is a two semester program. The fall semester includes fundraising activities which St. Jude's provides ideas and materials to implement the program. In the spring semester, all will be invited to attend the all night event to stay Up 'til Dawn.

The executive board is responsible for planning the events and recruiting people to get a sheet to have 50 names and addresses to bring with them. This is a campus-wide event and fund-raising campaign. At the event there will be raffles, live entertainment, and give aways. Some of the area businesses from Stuyvesant Plaza and Crossgates Mall have donated so far. Ones such as Coldstone, Bugaboo Creek, Color Me Mine, and Borders have already donated items and gift certificates. Bomber's has also donated $20 and Hooters has donated a 10 person wing party and a t-shirt. Live entertainment will also be featured. Tweeter, Jared Adams, and CJ Morrison and Matt Scherr have agreed to perform.

St. Jude is non-sectarian and has approximately 4,700 patients in active status. Since opening in 1962 it has treated children from all 50 states and more than 70 foreign countries. It has more than 30 regional fund-raising offices across the nation and a representative assists the students here at Saint Rose to plan for the event.
