Saint Rose Young Americans For Liberty to Host Jesse Calhoun

To promote freedom and liberty is one of the goals of the Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) chapter at the College of Saint Rose. The chapter plans to bring Jesse Calhoun, who is a fierce proponent of liberty in both musical and political formats.

Calhoun will be talking to students on March 17th in the Carondelet Symposium in the Lally School of Education about his work in Albany and how he contributes to the community in a way that promotes freedom and liberty for all. In the political realm, Calhoun ran for state assembly in 2016, and lost to Patricia Fahy. Three years earlier he ran for mayor of Albany and came in second place.

As the general manager of the School of Rock Albany, Calhoun has performed in front of large audiences bringing the message of liberty in musical format since 2007, which has been a free market answer for the declining role of music in public education.

“To Jesse, liberty is an innovation, expression, creativity, and growth, and the principles set forth by Bastiat and other libertarian thinkers continue to guide him to this day,” said Daniel Sanchez Antonio, secretary of the Young Americans for Liberty chapter at Saint Rose.

The chapter saw that Calhoun did a similar event at the Young Americans for Liberty Chapter at the State University of Albany and wanted to have him come to Saint Rose next. The members of YAL hope that Calhoun’s visit will inspire anyone who believes in the liberty movement.

If students are interested in learning more about liberty, the chapter, or want to stay updated on future events Saint Roe YAL can be contacted through their email collegeofsaintroseyal@gmail.com or message Matt Pietrykowski, Brian Tomek, or Sanchez through their Facebook.
