Saint Rose Mourns Student Death

The College of Saint Rose community is mourning the loss of student Shaiyah Lev Tuesday. Lev was a junior in the music department and played the flute.

Lev died over the weekend, according to an email circulated to both students and faculty by College President, Carolyn Stefanco.

“The College extends its prayers and sympathies to Shaiyah’s family, friends, his Saint Rose and Albany High faculty, and the student musicians who performed with him,” Stefanco said in the email.

Lev graduated from Albany High school in 2013, one block away from the Saint Rose campus.

Counseling services and Spiritual life offices are available to all who need them during this difficult time.

The cause of death has not been released, and the family of Lev asks anyone who wishes to honor him to please make a donation to the Saint Rose fund in his name. Contributions may be sent to Lisa McKenzie in the College’s Institutional Advancement office.
