President Trump Sends a Strong Message to Our Adversaries

Syria President Bashar Al-Assad is at it again. Just last Tuesday, Assad attacked his people with chemical weapons, harming many women and children by his reckless leadership.

The gas that was used in this attack was sarin. Turkey confirmed its use, as many of those affected in the attacks were brought to Turkey, according to The New York Times

These attacks came days after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stated it would not be the policy of the United States to focus its time on ousting Assad. One person who spoke out against this statement after the attacks was Senator Marco Rubio, saying it was not a coincidence the chemical attacks happened after Tillerson uttered those words.

Trump’s call to launch these missiles came after the Pentagon planned a strategy to hit the air force base where the chemical attack was launched.

Trump’s response has been praised by both Republicans and Democrats. However, some in Congress have been calling Trump’s acts unconstitutional. Those people would be senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Tim Kaine of Virginia.

Some have been calling for Trump’s impeachment because he didn’t go through Congress or simply because liberals are still crying foul over the election. Get over yourselves.

Former President Barack Obama ordered airstrikes in Libya in 2011 without consulting Congress. Where were the calls for impeachment by the people who want Trump to be impeached? There’s always a double standard.

What Trump did was legal and just. He did not declare war on Syria, he only attacked the airbase. It’s about time somebody takes action against this brutal dictator, this century’s Adolf Hitler.

People don’t realize the multi-lateral agreements that were broken when the Assad regime launched these attacks. He and his regime broke rules from the Geneva Conventions and also broke a ban that was signed by Syria in 2014.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry helped negotiate this ban. The United Nations also intervened in this and required Syria slow production of chemical weapons that would lead to an eventual halt in production.

Countries such as Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada have offered their praise of the attack. China, Russia, Syria and others have condemned it.

As of this time, the United States military is conducting an investigation as to whether Russia helped Syria conduct these attacks. Russia went so far as to send a ship close to two ships owned by the United States just to send a message that they’re watching our every move.

Russia said the United States violated Syria’s sovereignty. Vladimir must be suffering from amnesia. Does anyone remember Russia invading Crimea in 2014?
What we witnessed on April 6 was perhaps a reset of Trump’s agenda. I hope he realizes now Russia is not our friend, they are our adversary.

We may see this new administration focus more on what is going on around the globe rather than implementing a big domestic policy. Domestic policy will still be important, but I believe we will round up our allies to help fight Assad.

I just worry we’ve started something without a solution in place to end this conflict. We may have to see Assad thrown out of office, but then we’d be getting involved in state-building again.

As Trump’s first 100 days are coming to a close, we may see the president work closely with the generals and other foreign leaders in the fight against Syria.

If the United States decides to take more military action against Syria, the president should go through Congress and keep them informed as to how the mission is going.
