Late Knight Carnival

“Tip-A-Troll,” musical chairs and personalized caricatures were some of the many events available at the Late Knight Carnival at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept.10.
Late Knight is a committee of students who plan alcohol-free events as a safe alternative to have fun into the late hours of weekends throughout the
semester.
“It’s on campus so it’s convenient, and it’s a good place to hang out with friends,” said Jayda Shamblee, a sophomore. “I like coming to Late Knight events because I find them fun and they are alcohol free.”
In the past Late Knight has put on events including the Saint Rose Amazing Race, a trip to Dave and Busters, the Strose Sweep and more.
At the carnival, students had the opportunity to play games and win prizes, sit down for a free caricature at one of three different artist stations and eat popcorn and cotton candy.
On behalf of the Late Knight Committee, member David Judd said that they were very happy with the turnout for the event.
“Not only did we have a really great turnout, a lot of freshmen came as well,” he said.
Freshman Jillian Reed said that she decided to attend the event because her “amazing RA” Jenny Metzger encouraged her residents to attend.
Moving forward, Late Knights is hoping to continue organizing alcohol free events throughout the school year. Some possibilities include a murder mystery dinner, a Saint Rose Scavenger Hunt, and a trip to either Lucky Strike or Dave and Buster’s in the Crossgates Mall.
Judd hopes that the carnival inspired some students to want to help plan and coordinate these upcoming events.
Late Knight is looking for positive-minded students who want to work with other students to have fun helping their peers to have fun in a healthy environment. According to Judd, being a part of the committee provides ample opportunity to develop leadership and communication skills.
With Late Knight, students can take on as little or as much commitment as they are willing to. Students who are interested in becoming a part of the team are encouraged to contact the office of Student Affairs to find out how to get involved.
“It’s a fun time for everyone involved,” said sophomore Vicki Stubbs.
