The women’s basketball team competed against Bentley on Jan. 4. The women were defeated with a score of 41-78. Makaela Johnson led the game with 10 points. On Jan. 7, the women defeated Adelhi with a score of 81-71. The women were victorious again on Jan. 11 in a game against D’Youville with a score of 65-50. The Golden Knights won against Franklin Pierce with a score of 76-57 on Jan. 14. The women were defeated against American International on Jan. 18 with a final score of 62-75. On Jan. 21, the women played against Assumption and were defeated with a score of 48-66. The women were victorious later in the week on Jan. 24 against Saint Michael’s with a score of 50-42.
The men’s basketball team played Bentley on Jan. 4 and were defeated in overtime with a score of 74-81. Latiek Briscoe, a freshman guard on the team, led the Golden Knights with 20 points. The men were defeated by Adelphi on Jan. 7 with a score of 68-84. The men competed against Franklin Pierce and the final score was 56-87. The men won in their game against American International on Jan. 18 with a score of 86-72. The men competed against Assumption on Jan. 21 and were ultimately defeated with a final score of 52-66. The men lost in a close game against Le Moyne on Jan. 24 with a score of 57-68.
The women’s and men’s track and field teams competed at Utica’s Winter Opener on Jan. 14. The men placed 11th while the women placed 13th. Reese Casinelli won the 400-meter with a time of 51.35 seconds. Sara Fitzgerald placed sixth in the 400-meter with a time of 1:04.32. The teams competed at Middlebury Winter Classic Individuals meet on Jan. 21. D’Andre Little finished sixth in the 400-meter with a 1:01.44 time and Zoe Harris finished 11th in the 200-meter with a time of 27.96.
The women’s and men’s swimming and diving teams competed against Adelphi. The final score for the women was 43-50 while the men scored 31-64. Mia Stroub won the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly clocking in with a 1:05.29 and 1:02.79. Aldemar Alikavazovic won both of his individual events in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke with the times of 22.44 and 59.35. Both teams competed against Southern Connecticut State for their senior night on Jan. 15. The teams were both defeated with the women scoring 94-144 and the men scoring 117-153. The teams traveled to Vermont to compete against Saint Michael’s on Jan. 21. The women lost with a score of 82-151 and the men lost with a score of 99.5-128.5.
