Dean Richard Thompson is leaving his post as the Dean of Math and Sciences at the College of Saint Rose to take a position at Cabrini University in Radnor, Pennsylvania, beginning on July 1, 2017.
Thompson has accepted a new position as the Founding Dean of Natural Sciences and Allied Health. Cabrini University’s science and allied health program is very strong. Thompson feels that the skills he’s developed working at Saint Rose and will help him excel at his new position at Cabrini University. He’s very glad to be apart of the program.
Here at Saint Rose, Thompson main jobs are to make sure the curriculum runs smoothly and hiring new faculty. Thompson has had many accomplishments working here, but he feels like his biggest accomplishment was coaching the Higher Education Accreditation Self Study program at Saint Rose, which is the primary process for assuring and improving the quality of higher education at the college.
Thompson is also the lead coordinator for Undergraduate Research at Saint Rose. He organizes the summer grant program and his office puts together the annual undergraduate research symposium p
rogram. Thompson also supports the faculty member who is the editor of the online journal. The program has grown considerably over the past 10 years due to his services.
Before he began working at Saint Rose, Thompson lived in Texas at the time and he and his wife were look for schools in the Northeast. Naturally, Saint Rose was the school for him. He liked the small class sizes, the facility, and the science and mathematics department.
“It has been an excellent experience working with Dean Thompson– He’s been Unbelievably helpful and we are going to miss him terribly,” said Sarah Jones, a secretary in Thompson’s office. “We are all excited for him but his presence will be missed.”
“I will miss the people that I’m working with the most. I have Great colleagues and great friends.” said Thompson.
